Giving Back to The First Tee of Greater Austin

My name is Rishi Kejriwal, a high school senior at Westwood H.S. in Round Rock. I recently signed a Letter of Intent to play college golf at Rice University. I am also a “First Tee of Greater Austin Kid.” Eleven years ago at a First Tee of Greater Austin class I picked up my first golf club and ALOT has happened since then! I met some of my closest friends who I am now glad to have as part of my “Go To Team.” A Go-To-Team is a group of individuals whom I can always rely on to guide me with my best interests in mind. My team consists of; coaches, family members, and trustworthy friends. How to and identifying members for my go-to-team was a lesson I learned at The First Tee of Greater Austin. Having a go-to-team will be a concept that I will continue to use throughout my career. The highlight of my golf experience with The First Tee of Greater Austin was the opportunity to play with World Golf Hall of Fame member Tom Kite at The First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. I also had several other unique opportunities with The First Tee of Greater Austin and was recently named a First Tee Scholars which will allow me to continue my relationship with the organization throughout college. My experience with The First Tee has transformed me in many ways. I regard The First Tee of Greater Austin as my second home. Anytime I walk onto the campus, there is a welcome that I don’t feel anywhere else. I know the coaches and students at The First Tee have been with me through the thick and thin and I will always be able to count on them. The First Tee helped me find a clear direction in life and taught me how important it is to always hold yourself in the best way possible. They taught me the lesson that you are representing not only yourself but also everyone that surrounds you. To give back to an organization I so dearly love, I have created a fundraising project as a thank you gift for all they have done for me and my friends. It is a small way to give back and increase the scope of the impact they will have on future participants. I am raising money to buy The First Tee of Greater Austin chapter a CoverShots Mobile Canopy System. How my fundraiser works, is I am donating half of my weekly paycheck to The First Tee of Greater Austin and I am asking folks to match my gift or make a donation that feels right for them. The CoverShots will allow kids to practice under a portable structure out of the hot Texas sun. I recently started working at UT Golf Club and my weekly paycheck is averaging $150. The goal is to raise $24,000 by the end of the summer.
